Greenergy Expo and Enersolar +, the events dedicated to renewable energies, closed successfully after the edition held at Fiera Milano trade fair center in Rho from November 25 to 28, 2009. Their success was not limited to the number of visitors – 26,178 even given the other four events on innovation held at the same time – but applied also to the visibility granted to all markets of clean energy, an important resource for development in Italy.
The four-day event involved the leading Italian and international companies in the photovoltaic, solar thermal, low-temperature geothermal, biomass and biogas markets. The focus points were the conventions, actually eight, held during the expo with a total of 42 sessions, involving 226 speakers. At these events discussions were held on investment opportunities and strategies for the renewable energy market, solar energy (photovoltaic and solar thermal energy), biogas and its potential in agriculture, co-generation, and the use of woody biomass for the production of clean energy. Other topics covered were geothermal energy and the potential development of micro hydro in Italy.
The conventions were not only opportunities for technical discussion. They presented an opportunity for the market players to meet and coordinate the development of common political activities – at a crucial time when, on one hand, Italy is committed to respecting the objectives to reduce pollutant emissions and fossil fuel energy consumption, and on the other, it is still reluctant to develop sources of renewable energy.
