AIRLIGHT THESAN
RECEIVER FOR SOLAR CONCENTRATORS
Selected by the Milan Expo 2015 as the best research project on energy and the environment, this is the first prototype in the world of a revolutionary technology for concentrating solar collectors. The incident radiation is collected over a reflective parabolic surface and concentrated on a linear focus, where photovoltaic cells designed for high light intensity are arranged.
With its concentrator component patented by the Swiss company Airlight Energy and its receiver component with concentrating photovoltaic system patented by Thesan, the project has great potential in terms of low production, installation and maintenance costs and high yield for the transformation of solar energy into electricity, with limited use of photovoltaic cells.
The objective is to halve the unit cost for electricity production with respect to the current photovoltaic best practice.
The first working prototype is already operational in the thermodynamic version, and the photovoltaic version will be realized by the end of 2010.
